Transport is the largest contributor to the UK’s carbon dioxide emissions, meaning large strides must be made to meet the UK Government’s pledge for net zero by 2050. The focus of this session will be a recent RSSB-funded research project, led by Loughborough University, that investigated methods to reduce the carbon dioxide emissions of bi-mode trains. There will also be an opportunity to ask a range of panellists questions about the future of rail decarbonisation in the UK.
This webinar will discuss some of the latest research into decarbonisation being undertaken in industry and academia, with the chance to ask panellists questions about decarbonisation in the rail sector. The focus of the session will be a recent research project at Loughborough University that investigated methods to reduce the carbon dioxide emissions of bi-mode trains.
The seminar will also provide attendees with updates from RSSB about their plans for decarbonisation; Network Rail’s TDNS about their recent decarbonisation report; and Porterbrook about the recent mainline testing of the UK’s first hydrogen train, HydroFLEX. Audience members will then have a unique opportunity to ask the panellists questions about the future of rail decarbonisation in the UK.
