An information and brokerage event will be held on Tuesday, 30th October in Coventry at the University of Warwick (the event will be also broadcast live).
As set out in the Rail Technical Strategy and following the Transport Minister’s challenge to see all diesel-only trains off the tracks by 2040, RSSB is working with the wider industry to develop and deploy energy efficient, zero-carbon technologies.
With over £2 million available to support the rail industry decarbonisation challenge
Innovators and academics will join members of the supply chain community to receive information about current funding opportunities in the ‘rail decarbonisation’ space and discuss challenges and knowledge gaps with industry experts in order to shape potential research proposals.
As a mechanism to help the industry solve the decarbonisation challenge, two new funding competitions will be launched:
- A £1million RSSB-funded research competition focused on intelligent power solutions to decarbonise rail, specifically targeted at the challenges of high speed, freight and the wider infrastructure implications such as energy storage and distribution
- A £1million+ Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) co-funded by InnovateUK and RSSB. KTPs have been helping UK businesses innovate for growth for over 40 years and are one of the initiatives made available by InnovateUK. RSSB is keen to support KTPs in the areas of rail decarbonisation.
This will be an excellent opportunity to network and build successful consortia with potential partners. A limited number of free exhibition stands and elevator pitch slots are available, register to secure one.
